Met a girl, she was living in a dream
So many times, so different than what it seems
Water of doubt, dripping down her back
Watched it all, slipping through all them cracks
She was close, could’ve made her my wife
Things just ain’t what they seem, in the contract of life
Kicked back, sat around for a while
She just wasn’t there, when we headed down that dead end aisle
Cause it ain’t the same
When she’s dealing pain
In the blink of an eye, your whole life changed
Everything I knew, gone in a daze
And I just can’t help but feel like someone…turned out the lights
Self destruct sequence, countdown in my brain
Poppin’ pills to hold back chills, that are keeping my sane
A haunting whisper in the back of my mind
The last “I love you” she said, and since then I’ve been doing time
Cause it ain’t the same
When she’s dealing pain
In the blink of an eye, your whole life changed
Everything I knew, gone in a daze
And I just can’t help but feel like someone…turned out the lights
Now she’s feeling kinda lost, kinda low
But still she never stops, searching for what I don’t know
Walls are cold outside, but there crumbling from within
Something deep inside, but she’s not sure if she wants it back again
Cause it ain’t the same
When she’s dealing pain
In the blink of an eye, your whole life changed
Everything I knew, gone in a daze
And I can’t help praying for someone…to turn out the lights
…just turn out the lights
